Bob "Snapper" Finer has been flying for over 35 years. He is starting his tenth season as a California Fire Pilot, having flown the S-2T for the past seven seasons and having previously spent one year on the California Fire Pilots Association Board of Directors. He served as both an infantry officer and aviator in the Marines, having flown as a carrier-qualified jet-attack and FAC pilot, retiring after twenty years as a Lt. Colonel. He currently holds an S-2 IFR Type Rating, FAA Instructor ratings for airplane single, multi-engine and instrument flying and an FAA Statement of Aerobatic Competency for solo and formation aerobatics. Bob has accumulated just under 10,000 non-autopilot flight hours, having flown over 80 different aircraft makes and models, ranging from light-sport to jet fighters.
